Smut Book
Review:
Okay, I
know it’s pretty difficult to review a smutty book, but I thought I’d try.
Nemuri Otoko to Koi Otoko or A Sleeping Man and A Loving Man by Zaria (Zariya
Ranmaru) provides some of the most exquisite eye candy in the yaoi world, but
it also has a story. Well…a bit of a story. 😝
Jude, who is openly gay, and
Royce, who is straight, are long-term business partners and housemates that
share a platonic relationship until Royce’s mysterious disease begins to cause problems
for Jude. In the middle of the night, Royce will get up and screw anyone close
by, regardless of sex, and not recall anything the next day. Almost like
sleepwalking. Ha ha. Anyway, this three-part story is filled with gorgeous sex scenes.
Jude is a beauty, and Royce has a great body. Love it.
Love Book
Reivew:
Ito, a
serious high school student, meets the kind and childlike Nishi, during a
single player game of “White Line Game". Little do either realize, but their
meeting leads to a life-time of emotional growth, personal evaluation, love lost,
and love found.
Life Senjou
no Bokura or Life, Us from the Line by author Miya Tokokura is one of the most
touching, and realistic yaoi I’ve read in a while. There is no hidden agenda, and
no violence between the men. Ito and Nishi don’t have a typical uke/seme
relationship, which is common in most yaoi, what they share is just…life. They
meet by chance, fall in love, and try to keep their relationship going well
into adulthood. But adulthood and what society, family and friends expect of
them makes staying together an even greater challenge.
The
characters are absolutely wonderful, the art is simple but eye-catching, and
the story is something you won’t forget. Be prepared, if you decide to read
Life Senjou no Bokura you’d better have a box of tissues handy.
Drama Book
Review:
Bokura ga
Koi wo Ushinau Riyuu by Itz is a little different from most yaoi. Actually, it’s
is a breath of fresh air from the countless cliché stories about childhood
friends falling in love and confessing. Oushirou has had feelings for his
childhood friend Koba for years. While he’s drinking in a bar, a stranger,
Inamura, chats him up. Inamura is kind, easy-going and talkative, but also seems
a bit flighty. Regardless of first impressions, Oushirou is suffering and needs
someone to talk to, so he slowly opens up to Inamura. In time, they develop a
bond, and Oushirou isn’t sure if he still feels the same about Koba.
Oushirou is
an interesting guy. He’s somewhat shy and introverted in yet strong when he
needs to be. And Inamura has his own baggage, but he learns how to let it go.
What I love about this story is how these two men really listen and support one
another without any hidden agenda. Again, this story is more realistic than
most I’ve read, and you will need a tissue.
