Werewolves in the Kitchen-Shauna Aura Knight #paranormal #romance #erotic #sex #urbanfantasy #authorinterview

Welcome to BRB, everyone! I hope your Valentine's Day celebration, whatever you did, was enjoyable. We went out for dinner then visited my uncle. He's an older bachelour with health issues. We gave him a card, and made sure he was all right. Quiet night, but good. My quest today is no stranger to writing erotic romance. Please welcome author Shauna Aura Knight!

What genre do your currently write? And, is there a genre you'd like to write, but haven't tried yet?

I currently write in the Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy genres. My work tends to be either Erotic Romance or at least on the spicy side of things. I also write more epic/secondary world Fantasy, Science Fiction Romance, and some Futuristic/Dystopian Romance. There aren’t really any other genres on my radar at the moment; as long as there is some kind of a fantasy/otherworldly/futuristic element, I’m there.

Many authors use a nom de plume, and they may use one opposite to their own sex. Do you think an author's sex or sexual orientation should dictate what genre they write?

Definitely not. We write what inspires us. In my case, I’m female happily in a female body, pretty much hetero, and I tend to write M/F most of the time because that’s what turns me on, however, again, I think we write what calls to us. I write male characters even though I’m not male; I write epic fantasy battles and science fiction even though I’ve never been in a battle or on a space ship. I’m not sure if I’ll ever write anything F/F, but I’ve thought about writing some M/M erotic fiction.

I think that we should write what inspires us no matter what happens to be between our legs and what experiences we’ve had—but, we also should do our fact checking. Werewolves in the Kitchen is a M/F/M ménage, so I actually checked in with a few friends who had experienced a ménage like that to make sure I got some things right.

Some authors have issues with character development, writer's block, plot summary etc. What is the biggest challenge you face when writing? How do you overcome the problem?

My biggest problem is that I start writing my stories in the middle of things; often my story ideas come from dreams. So then I know I have a sexy psychic and a paranormal of some type facing a conflict, but I don’t always know why. It can take me a long time to figure out why the characters are in the situation they are in, and what happens next. Once I do the writing flows pretty well. Sometimes I have to leave a story on the back burner for years before I figure something out. Other times, I just have to sit there and force myself to keep writing and something will come through eventually.

What has been the single most successful marketing tool you've used to date?

It’s still early enough in my career that it’s a bit of a challenge to track trends, but I’d say Facebook has been my best marketing tool if I take into account both my fiction and my nonfiction writing. I have met a lot of people while traveling and teaching workshops around the country, so when I post something on my FB, I usually get a lot of engagement. I suppose I only half consider it a marketing tool; I really like engaging with people on Facebook so it hardly feels like work.

What are you currently reading?

I’ve been reading some Emma Holly and Jory Strong’s Inked Magic and Inked Destiny. Mighty spicy stuff!

How do you measure success?

I suppose there’s two ways. One is numbers—how many downloads, how many books have sold. However, I’d say my most rewarding moments have been when people have read my work and told me how it impacted their lives. I suppose few years from now, success for me would be being a guest presenter at various Scifi/Fantasy conventions. I love attending Sci Fi conventions and would love to present workshops and talks at some.

Just for fun–

What is your favourite drink?

I love freshly squeezed orange juice, but I practically swoon for Bolthouse vanilla chai protein drink. Since I quit all wheat, dairy, aspartame, and pretty much all processed foods, whenever I’m absolutely pheening for ice cream, one of those protein drinks keeps me from eating something that’s terrible for me. I could live off the things. I’m kind of the opposite of a foodie.

Are you a cat or dog person?

Definitely cats. I like to post the occasional pictures and videos of my cats, particularly Ziggy, otherwise known as Xiggoreth the Destroyer. She likes to help me with artwork and writing. And by help, I mean, laying on my projects and demanding pettings.

Love or lust?

I’m definitely a die-hard romantic, and I still hope to find that special person where we both fall crazy in love with each other. However, lust is pretty fun too.

If you could spend the day with any famous author, who would it be? And, why?

I can’t pick just one. For Scifi/Fantasy authors, I wish I could spend a day with Anne McCaffrey, though she recently passed away. Her Pern series is definitely one of my biggest inspirations as an author.

For romance authors, probably Emma Holly. I love her work and how hot it is. I know that if I pick up an Emma Holly book it’s going to be toe-curlingly spicy. I’d love to know how she gets that perfect edge of spice; she manages to use the word “spurt” without it sounding tacky, gross, or silly.

If you could indulge free of any consequences, what would be your ultimate sexual fantasy?

I suppose there’s a reason I wrote the scene with Ellie, Jake, and Kyle…being with two (or more) hot, primal, sexy guys at the same time like that …yum.

Werewolves in the Kitchen

When Ellie moved to the SpiralStone retreat center to figure out her life, she expected peace, quiet, and spiritual practice. She had no idea that the two sexy men running the kitchen would seduce her…much less at the same time. Kyle and Jake turn out to be wilder than they seem and Ellie finds herself wrapped up in devastating magic. She must choose: stay with Jake and Kyle and risk who she has been, accepting the dangerous world of shapeshifters? Or leave them and risk madness, or worse?

“Come with us.”
“Come with you?”
“To our room,” Jake whispered into her ear, and she moaned, closing her eyes. “Come on,” they urged, drawing her to the stairs.

“But…I…” Ellie shook her head. “Why now?” Kyle turned her to face him.

“We both wanted you, but we didn’t want to scare you.”

“I saw you watching us. Don’t you desire us?”

“Oh yes, but I thought you two were...that is…didn’t think you’d want….”

Kyle kissed her deeply. “I want you. Jake wants you. We’ve been trying not to crowd you, but well…”

“You didn’t seem to get our signals.” Jake sucked hard on her neck.

“I just thought you were being nice.”

“Oh we were being nice,” Kyle grinned. “We’re going to be nicer. Come on.” He shut the washer.

Ellie followed them in a daze into the bathroom in their suite. She blinked. Those who did the grueling kitchen work got nice accommodations.

Jake turned the shower on while Kyle kissed her senseless. She threaded her fingers into short blond curls, and suddenly Jake was behind her, untying her shorts. Kyle drew her top up, and she could feel Jake’s bare chest against her back.

She was just in her bra and panties when Kyle released her to pop the button on his jeans. Then he kissed her again, nipping his way down her body.

Jake made an appreciative noise from behind her, and she turned her head. He kissed her, grinding his hips against her buttocks. Distracted by Jake kissing her, she gasped when Kyle brushed his fingers over her mound, rubbing her through her panties. He nipped at her hip, and she felt him dragging her underwear down. She tugged him up and kissed him.

“Shower first,” she murmured.

Kyle grinned, placing her hands on the waistband of his jeans to tug them off. Her jaw dropped just a little as his length sprung out. “Oh my,” she whispered.

He drew her to him and into the steaming shower, kissing her. Jake closed the glass shower door behind him; it was just big enough for three. She took them both in before they drew closer.

Jake tipped her head back into the water to wet it before he began lathering up her hair, his fingers massaging her scalp as she blissed out.

Kyle grabbed a washcloth and washed her from shoulders to feet until she shivered. Ellie blushed and protested when his fingers slipped between her folds until she moaned. Jake claimed her lips as Kyle began to circle her pearl where she was slick with arousal. “So wet, baby.”

Jake slid his hands over her body, down to her buttocks, lathering up her back with body wash. Then he was splitting her buttocks to wash her there as Kyle drove two fingers into her pussy.

She cried out into Jake’s mouth at the sensation. She’d never been kissed like this before—the hot water falling on them, Jake’s tongue lapping at her lips even as Kyle was pleasuring her where she’d been swollen and hot for them for so long.

Ellie moaned, thrusting down onto Kyle’s fingers, and Jake teased at her other entrance, working into her with the body wash. She shuddered.

“That ok?” he murmured, and she moaned a ragged yes. How many times had she blushed, fantasizing about them doing this to her? She was already on the edge of orgasm from the thrill of having them both totally focused on her pleasure and so many days without release.

Kyle circling her pearl and Jake working his finger into her body where she was tight had her gasping for breath against Jake’s lips. “That’s it,” he murmured, stroking in and out.
