Tell us
about yourself.
I'm a little shy--have
been all my life so writing is the perfect career for me. As a young girl I
worked as a farmhand for my dad until I left the farm at the age of
twenty-four. Mom loved horses so I grew up riding too. I love animals but
didn't enjoy the "sport" of horseback riding as much as the
companionship of my Quarter Horse mare, Tosha. I've been writing since grade
school, started with poems and short stories then as a teen wrote full length
romance novels in the privacy of my room when I could slip away. It was hard
because Mom didn't allow me to stay indoors much so I did most of my writing at
night instead of sleeping. That made schooling difficult because I was always
exhausted. The only subjects I excelled in were English because I loved them so
much I didn't fall asleep like I did in my other classes. In addition to my love
for writing and animals, I love music. I taught myself how to play guitar and
share a deep passion for many genres of music with my husband. This year we
will celebrate our twenty-fifth anniversary. He loves my erotic novels and
reads them all. I am blessed with such a wonderful loving and devoted man. He
is my best friend and we do everything together.
Where
and/or how do you find the greatest inspiration?
Life…it's all around
me. Everything I experience becomes a book in my head with embellishment and
name changes of course. I absorb my surroundings and the aura of people I meet,
it has always been natural for me to simply write it all into stories where I
can control the outcome and create happy endings. I am rarely at a loss for
words.
What made
you chose to write erotic literature in particular? And is there any other
genre you’d like to write? And if so, why?
I never made the
choice to write erotic romance, it just happened naturally because I like it.
In fact, the first published novels I wrote were apparently erotic and I never
even knew it until fellow authors began shunning me. I pulled those books out
of print when I left that uptight publishing group and moved on to a much
better one where my muse is free to roam. I have always loved writing hot,
romantic love scenes into my stories. I can write in almost any genre and have
even done a nonfiction book about animals. Erotic writing is just fun, really
that's why I write it. I have no platform to push, no hidden agenda or any
point to make. I've been writing erotic romance since a teen and now as a
married woman find it very helpful to unwind after a hard day in real life. As
a lady who stresses easily, my mind needs to be seduced before my body follows.
My husband truly appreciates the perks of having an erotic romance author for
his wife. I'm not sure if there is another genre I need to write as erotic
romance covers all the subgenres. I have many books set for release, one each
month into next year in various genres but all are erotic with different heat
levels.
Which
appears first when contemplating a new project: A character, the plot and/or
the title?
It varies. Sometimes a
title will pop into my head and spark a story. Other times the story creates
the title. I usually don't see the characters before the story though. For me,
I feel a story coming on and have to wait for the characters to show themselves
to me.
What’s the
hardest part of a novel for you to write: Beginning, middle and/or end? Why?
None of the above,
once a story is in my head and the characters are on the page, they lead me. I
don't force the plot. If the characters are tired, we take a little break. They
always come back to me and tell me what happens next and I never know how a
book is going to end. I think that's the most exciting part!
Has your
own life influenced your novels? And if so, how?
Definitely. My
heroines tend to be distrusting and tough. They seek strong, passionate men who
are worthy of their love but not controlling. Loyalty is a must in my books as
is honesty. We have no tolerance for evil men or backstabbing women. We deliver
justice when the system fails and we never back down. Abuse is a crime and we
fight against it. Also, all my characters love animals.
Writing
sex/romantic scenes can be a challenge for some authors. Do you find it
difficult? If yes, how do you compensate? If no, where do you draw your
inspiration?
Not at all. I have
been told I write sex scenes with a "deft touch". For me, the sex is
part of the romance and the result of love. Once in a while you'll find a sex
scene in my books between sub-characters just because we feel like being naughty.
But the sex between my main characters is always accompanied by deep love and
commitment. My inspiration? My husband. He is awesome and the most morally
upright man I've ever known. I never knew men could be gentle, sweet and strong
until I met him in May of 1986. Writing love scenes is so easy because of him.
Do you have
a method you use to write the sensual parts? Do you prefer the sex to be open
and bold? Or left to the imagination?
Ah, whatever flows at
the moment is my style. I have no method. I simply let the characters decide
how they want it to go. The sex is always open with the bedroom door open as
that is what erotic writing is. If you keep the sex behind closed doors then
you have soft romance. Not that I couldn't do that, it's just more fun to
thrill the readers. Sometimes the sex is slow and easy while other times we get
very wild and intense--it's all good. We all need a little down time in this
crazy world. I'd like to think that readers who choose my books will share them
with their partner and have some fun together. Life is too short. Grab one of
my books, your partner and get wild, because my books will turn you on.
Who is your
favourite character, which you’ve created? And why?
Hands down no
contest…Booker! I wrote him into the last chapter of my first book (that I
never published) in 2006. He was supposed to be a bit character, come in, do
his job and leave. I gave him a vague description to set the scene and he stole
my heart. I had quite writing in 2011 until Booker found me again. He wanted to
do his story his way. Fifteen days later the first book in Night Angels was
born. My longtime affair with Booker is uncanny. I've even begun a blog about
him at Extasy Books titled, Memoirs of a Vampire's Lover (Secret Life of a
Housewife). My husband loves Booker which is even more peculiar. I think we
have a supernatural threesome. Booker is my favorite because he carries what I
call, "the cool factor" and he is loaded with charisma. Nobody can
resist him, he's just that alluring. I wish I could take credit for his
existence but the truth is he's such a strong character that even I feel like
he is real. I have no idea where he came from. I tried to kill him three times
in the first books but he loves me deeply and refuses to let go. He always
tells me that he will never let me go.
Tell us
about your newest release.
Vampire Pact--this is
the fifth book in my Night Angels series. This story merges the clan from
Vampire Ride (book 4) with Zoe's all female pack of vigilante vampires. The
sparks fly during a steamy ritual to seal their blood and Zoe is forced to
share her precious Booker for one night. One woman takes things too far and Zoe
is faced with some tough decisions. The plot is fast paced, sexy and highly
sensual with shocking twists as always because my characters often lack
self-control.
Just for fun–
What is
your favourite colour?
Pink
Which do
you prefer a great hero or a great villain?
Both
What is
your favourite movie? And why?
Twister. I love
weather and the characters in that movie all jive for me. I love how Bill's
fiancé gracefully bows out at the end and how Joe's past provides motivation
for her madness. The sub characters are all so cool and very well drawn. The
movie never gets tiresome for me even though there are so many bloopers. The soundtrack
is good too. It's the only movie that never grates on my nerves. It's a really
cool love story while feeding my need for some great special effects and
weather.
If you
could be anyone in the world who would it be? And why?
A better me with a lot
more money. I like who I am. But my shyness is often mistaken for conceitedness
which is totally opposite of who I am.
Where do
you see your writing career in the next five to ten years?
A lot more books
published and hopefully enough money to help us get by. I plan to stay with
Extasy books because I love it there. I'm not a big fan of major changes so
when I find a good thing I tend to be content and stop looking for more. I'd
like to see one of my novels as a movie.

Vampire Pact Night
Angels Book 5
Blurb:
Booker and Zoe face unexpected challenges
when a new vampire sect rides onto the scene. The war with Black Star has taken
its toll on their relationship. When a merger is necessary to save her clan,
the two lovers struggle to hold on. A shocking appearance from the past puts
their love to the ultimate test. Can they find their way back to each other
when fate pushes the limits? Will Zoe be able to forgive Booker when a ritual
goes too far?
Excerpt:
Booker covered her mouth with his in a
kiss laden with hunger while Rider buried his face against her neck.
Frantically she began tearing at his clothes, first the half-opened shirt then
the fly to his worn jeans until he was naked. All the while Rider continued
caressing and kissing any inch of skin he could reach while pulling off her
clothes.
She
turned to him with the same urgency, pushing his silky tee shirt up and over
his head then urging him to shed the leather pants. Booker’s sensual lips
trailed down her back as she kissed her way down Rider’s chest and over the
rippling abs. Free of their clothes at last, the three of them knelt entwined
on the rug.
“Sweet,
sweet baby.” Rider sighed and let his head fall back as her teeth nipped at his
neck. “Take your fill, I long to feel your bite.”
Before
engaging in another bite she glanced back at Booker. His eyes shimmered with
astounding love and he gave a sexy wink that fueled the ache between her
thighs.
“Make
love to me, baby,” she pleaded. “I want to feel you deep inside while I take
Rider’s blood.” Her gaze shifted back to Rider. “I need you both more than
anything right now.”
“No
worries, doll.” His alluring eyes drew her into their dark depths. “I
understand that we must take it slow for a while. You’re in good hands, my
sweet.”
Tears
blurred her eyes momentarily. His words touched her. Their overwhelming
affection warmed her soul and she felt the ice of sorrow melt away for the
time.
Booker’s
arms encircled her waist as he eased into position behind her. Lowering his
head to the curve between her neck and shoulder, his hair tumbled forward
sending a cascade of silky spirals over her breasts. Strong yet gentle hands
moved up her midriff then higher to caress her breasts and tease the nipples,
making them tingle. She waited until his hard length slid between her thighs
before leaning toward Rider again.
“Ohhh
yesss…” She couldn’t halt a long moan of pleasure as hard male sex filled hers.
It had been too long since joining with them.
Rider
released a feral groan as she bit down hard. His blood spurted into her mouth
and she felt his erection press firmly against her belly while Booker settled
into a steady pace of thrusting in and out. Self-control dissipated quickly
among them due to lack of recent action. Sucking greedily at her dark-haired
lover’s neck, she spread her legs wider for deeper penetration from her alpha
male.
Sandwiched
between them and wrapped in a tense embrace, she climaxed quickly and shuddered
with release. She lifted her head to gaze at Rider while Booker continued
driving his awesome self into her throbbing sex. Her tongue swept over parted
lips seconds before Rider swathed them with his, thrusting his tongue to the
back of her throat.
I've read this book, and it is, just like all of her other books, amazing. That might be biased, but I just tell it how I read it. There was one part of the book I didn't like, Storm knows which bit, and I told her so.
ReplyDeleteStorm has a natural talent for writing and I will continue to read all of her books because of that :P
It was nice reading a little bit about you Storm :P
Great interview.
Hugs
Aw, thank you, Natalie! I am so sorry Booker let you down, I hope he redeems himself in the next one. I think he will. He's loyal to only one woman, but as the blurb said, a ritual went too far and well, women in their world are very aggressive toward him, remember? ;) And it was a group thing so I think we can cut him a little slack, what do you think? After all, Zoe is no saint! LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat interview Storm! I loved reading more about your inspirations, and your writing processes. It gives your readers such an intimate feel for your books. I have one question for you though. Do you ever get pulled toward writing several books at once?, or are you focused on one book at a time?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Pact, I have read all the rest of the collection and loved each and every one of them. The taste you have given us here is such an irresistable tease you naughty girl hehe.
Christine
Thank you, Christine!
ReplyDeleteIn reply to your question, yes, I do get pulled toward more than one book at a time but only write one at a time. Currently there are a few in my head. But first I have edits for my September release Backstage pass to complete, then galleys for a January release and of course my holiday story to complete before deadline. So my other books are on the back burner.
To view my future releases and dates please visit the Coming Soon page on my site :)
I keep a file of book notes and put any ideas in there. I have several working titles noted with character names and a basic idea. Some are more progressed than others, just depends on my inspiration. I usually get new ideas just before I fall asleep. I have some great stories of different genres and heat levels on the way.
Thanks for the great question, Please leave your email so I can send you a copy of Vampire Pact! And I thank you very much for your kind words on the series and for choosing my books.
As always, enjoy the ride!
Hugs,
Storm
Thank you to everyone for stopping by, and thank you so much for the great interview, Storm! I do wish for you all the best, hun. Your novel has sparked my interest, it sounds great!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Blak, for graciously hosting me on your awesome blog. It's always fun doing the interviews. Let me know how you like the pack ;)
