Today I've got an extra special guest - an author that I've grown very fond of and whom I consider to be a very dear friend. She's smart, kind and helpful, and boy can she move quick. We're talking stealth mode, baby! You can ask and it shall be done - hell it was done yesterday! Amy Romine is a relatively new author to the whole publishing scene, having started her career only six short months ago. But already she's shown a strength like no one else I've met. She collaborates on RLJ, she provides information and always offers a lending hand. And between writing, working, promoting and her family she also finds the time to help fledgling authors. There isn't enough that I can say about this super woman. I'll tell you this, Amy inspires me. Please welcome Amy Romine!

Who is Amy Romine? Tell us about yourself.

I am a wife and a mother of three, I am a full-time corporate professional and a novelist. I believe everything happens for a reason, I believe in true love and I am a total hopeless romantic.

When did you know you wanted to become a writer?

I always loved to pretend and I dabbled a little it in acting and theatre, eventually writing just evolved and then I realized it is what I am meant to do.

Who and/or what prompted you to write your first novel?

It was a challenge to myself, I tool several years off of writing raising my family. I had not taken my gift seriously. When I turned thirty-five I had a mini-life crisis, and realized that I wasn’t doing what I was meant to do with my life.  It was then that I decided that I was going to go for it. I started cutting my teeth on fanfiction. Then the Labor Day writing challenge came around and I took the challenge. I wrote half of my first novel in that first four day weekend and then completed it two months later.  I have been writing ever since.

Where and/or how do you find the greatest inspiration?

Music has to be one of my biggest sources of inspiration, a lyric, a melody or just a voice can spawn a plethora of ideas.

What made you chose to write erotic literature in particular? And is there any other genre you’d like to write? And if so, why?

I am a romantic suspense author the erotic portion of my first published novel was actually expanded to fit into the erotic landscape. I am very conscious to make sure that my novels can stand alone without the erotic content. The added content just makes it that much juicier.

Which appears first when contemplating a new project: A character, the plot and/or the title?

None, not for me anyway. The beginning of a new project starts with a single scene and builds from there.  My book Trust Me began around a scene I had in my head of two people, desperately in love but forced to hide it, they are facing each other in a dark room and overwhelmed by their emotions, not able to hold back any longer they come together despite the consequences.

What’s the hardest part of a novel for you to write: Beginning, middle and/or end? Why?

It depends on the book. Some the end kills me, others it is the beginning. Usually I will stumble in the middle, knowing where I want to go but struggling on how to get there.  It happens because I get too inside my own head and I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque. J

Has your own life influenced your novels? And if so, how?

Of course.  I am married to the love of my life and that fuels all of the romance I can handle, my heart is content so I can express that in my work.

Writing sex scenes can be a challenge for some authors. Do you find it difficult? If yes, how do you compensate? If no, where do you draw your inspiration?

The most difficult thing for me about the sex scenes are keeping them interesting.  I hate doing the same thing over and over again. I am getting bolder in my ‘scenes’. I used to not even be able to say the more explicit terms much less write them as part of a scene! I would get embarrassed even if it was just me reading it. Now I have no problems.

Do you have a method you use to write the sensual parts? Do you prefer the sex to be open and bold? Or left to the imagination?

I have gone back and forth; it really depends on the situation and the characters, just like in real life.  Some things become more erotic if left to the imagination and other times bold is best. Again, totally depends on the context.

Are your characters based on people you know? Or are they completely fictitious?

It is a mix, in Trust me the main characters best friend is based on my best friend while all of the other characters are purely fictitious. In my new book, Temperance – Shock Wave, the male lead as well as the female subordinate are based on real people.  The entire story was inspired by a local morning radio team and the characters are based on those real people.

Who is your favorite character, which you’ve created? And why?

My favorite character? Hmmm. WOW that is a tough question. I love all of my characters so much. I guess my favorite would have to be Donna, just because she is the expression of someone I dearly love.

Can you tell us about your latest release? Give a synopsis.

My latest release is the third book in the Trust Me series; it is last book and takes the entire story, flips it over and knocks you out.  In the final book everything that has happened comes to a head and the results are not what you would expect.

Eric Stiles has everything to lose and no matter how hard he fights, he can feel his life slipping away. Rebecca Gailen thinks that the love of her life is dead and only the vigor of revenge keeps her fighting to survive.
When a secret reveals more than anyone expected, it changes Eric and Rebecca’s lives forever. The devastating truth puts the couple at odds. Can they overcome their clashing conclusions and learn to trust each other again? Or will they let it rip them apart?

What’s your newest WIP? And when we can expect a publication date?

I just finished the first book of my new series for Extasy Books. It is a part of their Tarot Line. This one is Temperance – Shockwave. It is about the meeting of a couple. They are from two completely different worlds. One is an FBI Agent and the other is a Radio personality. They meet and are at odds, but at the same time they are both beginning to change as people. Wanting different things that what they have now. The truth is both of them feel very alone in their lives. When they meet there is automatic resistance, and then friction and finally fire. Expect release is March 1st.

How many novels do you have, that are currently published? Please list all the publishers, so the readers can locate you.

I have only been published through Extasy Books.  I have three novels with Extasy Books.
Trust Me Book 1 – Serenity Lost Amazon
Trust Me Book 2 – Veiled Deception Amazon
Trust Me Book 3 – Jaded Promises Amazon

Where do you see your writing career in the next five to ten years?

I would like to just keep writing what I love. I have created some options for myself by contributing to various blogs and expanding my presence in the writing community. I have some goals of my own, including the launching of an affordable writing support resource site for new authors and a customized erotic letter site for those who want to write but can’t J.

I have met some amazing people in the past six months and I can only imagine the adventures ahead. In five years it is my goal to be writing full time and expanding my career to new levels.

Thanks so much for stopping by Amy. It was great to have you here!
It's Edward Kendrick's debut on Feb 18th - can't wait to read his post! Also on the 18th I'll be posting @ RLJ - we're growing with the addition of authors Cara Bristol and Brindle Chase (say those two names fast backwards ten times). LOL I've got another treat in store, the multi-talented and multi-tasking author Rawiya/Michael Mandrake/Blmortica will be joining BRB! Her debut will be on Feb 26th - so mark your calendars. It's been awesome and once again thank you Amy for doing the interview!
