Welcome to BRB, everyone!
As a pianist, I
find that music is one of several gateways to the soul. Music can influence a
person’s mood, as well as their behaviour and it can ignite flights of artistic
fancy. As for my taste in music, it’s similar to my taste in books: I enjoy a
wide spectrum of styles, from pop to classical and everything caught in
between. And I believe to really appreciate any form of creativity you have to
be willing to sample a little of each. My favourites are classical and
soundtracks because there are usually no vocals, just a wonderfully arranged
set of notes that never fail to arouse my muse.
Some of the
best motion picture soundtracks that I’ve heard this year so far are:
King Arthur: Legend
of the Sword (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
By Daniel Pemberton
Wonder Woman
(Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
By Rupert
Gregson-Williams
John Wick: Chapter
2 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
By Tyler Bates
& Joel J. Richard
I wrote my entire
Reaper series to the John Wick soundtracks (both movies)
Of course, movie soundtracks
aren’t the only kind I listen to, the world of gaming and anime have produced
equally amazing music. Here are just a few of my personal favourites:
Attack on Titan
(Original Soundtrack)
By Hiroyuki Sawano
Haikyu!! (Original
TV Animation Multiple Soundtracks)
By Various Artists
The Seven Deadly
Sins (Vol. 1 and Vol. 2)
By Various Artists
Yuri on Ice
(Collection)
By Various Artists
Red Dead Redemption
(Original Soundtrack)
By Various Artists
Kuroko no Basket
(Original TV Animation Multiple Soundtracks)
By Various Artists
Assassin’s Creed
By Jesper Kyd &
Lorne Bafle
Bleach (Original TV
Animation Multiple Soundtracks)
By Various Artists
Ajin (Original

By Yugo Kanno
Final Fantasy VIII
(Original Soundtrack)
By Nobou Uematsu
I will stop here,
as my list could continue indefinitely. If you’ve ever experienced writer's block, I’m sure you will appreciate listening to any one of these soundtracks. For
me, music is usually the best remedy for those rare times when my brain draws a
blank. And even if it doesn’t help, I still love to sit back, close my eyes and
listen.
*Wikipedia: Writer's block is a condition, primarily associated with writing, in which an author loses the ability to produce new work, or experiences a creative slowdown. The condition ranges in difficulty from coming up with original ideas to being unable to produce a work for years. Throughout history, writer's block has been a documented problem.
OMG I hope I never encounter this problem "unable to produce a work for years". Yikes!
Happy Yaoi Hunting!
