You know how it is with online friends. You
can be talking to each other by email for years, having fun, doing business,
but it’s a distance relationship. Not the same as meeting people face to face.
Well, I’ve got news. I was in UK a couple
of weeks ago, visiting my mother, and took time out to travel up to Liverpool
and meet Gemma Parkes. We are founding members of Yellow Silk Dreams, the web
site that sells good sexy romance from a group of dedicated authors. I’ll tell
you more about the meeting later, but first I have to tell you where she took
me.
We met in Liverpool’s Philharmonic Pub, and
that’s a special place. Believe me! It was built in Liverpool’s glory days,
back in Victorian times, when there was plenty of money around and everyone was
getting rich sending ships back and forth between Europe and North America. The
city had built a Philharmonic Hall where folk could indulge themselves with
high-falutin music, and of course they needed a high-falutin pub across the
road to go with it.
The Victorians have left us a great venue.
They were not afraid of bling, and everything about the pub decor manages to be
in good taste, and over-the-top at the same time. Perhaps because there is just
so much ornamentation in the same place – it’s a fairy land. Carving, painting,
tiling, it’s just overwhelming. And the high spot of the place? Yes, now you
understand the sign above – it’s the men’s toilets.
Gemma dragged me along and we slipped in
for a peep – wow! A tiled wonderland. It must have cost a fortune, and just so
the gentlemen could have a pee? You just HAVE to go and see for yourself.
Anyway, about the meeting. Firstly, Gemma
is just as glamorous as an author of erotic romance ought to be. She has long
blonde hair and is indecently slim, unlike me. I already knew she talks sense,
and she is even smarter when you meet her in person.
We were talking plans for Yellow Silk Dreams. We have been going for a
couple of years now and the idea of authors selling their books without a
publisher grabbing the lion’s share of the revenue is working. Now we need to
expand, and the first step is to increase our readership.
We are going to be giving away FREE eBOOKS!
That’s right, professionally written, good quality ebooks – for free. Just
visit our site here and choose a title.
We are looking for great things for Yellow Silk Dreams over the coming months. Blak Rayne will be releasing something
there soon. We have new authors coming online and the first one will be a
series about Puck. Yup, Puck as in Midsummer Night’s Dream, although he has
moved on a bit since then. That is a book you don’t want to miss. See you there!
Jacqueline lives in Far North Queensland,
on the shore of the Coral Sea. She keeps herself busy with her cats and garden,
and by writing books - some of which are far too naughty for her own good. You
