Welcome to BRB, sweeties. My guest today has written quite a handful of novels, plus sh contributes to Queer Magazine Online. She's a lovely lady and an awesome author! Great cover, Lucy. Thanks for stopping by! Let's get the party started.
I'm Lucy Felthouse and I've just turned 27.
I'm from Derbyshire in the UK and have been writing forever, and published
since 2006.
Where and/or how do you find the greatest
inspiration?
I find inspiration anywhere and everywhere.
It can be a place, a person, an overheard conversation, a character in a book,
film or TV show... literally anything can spark off my imagination.
What made you chose to write lesbian erotic
literature in particular? And, is there any other genre you’d like to write? And,
if so, why?
It was a dare. At University, one of my
friends dared me to write an erotic story. I did, and things escalated from
there. I'm sure I'll try other genres one day, but at the moment I still have
plenty of erotica and erotic romance ideas in my head, and I love the fact that
you can explore so many sub-genres within erotica, too! It'll keep me busy for
a while.
Which appears first when contemplating a
new project: a character, the plot, or the title?
Usually the plot. Then the characters, then
the title. I usually find titles the most difficult to come up with, but then
very occasionally, titles come first!
What’s the hardest part of a novel for you
to write: beginning, middle, or end? Why?
I've only just started writing my first
novel, so I can't really say!
Has your own life influenced your novels?
And, if so, how?
Only in terms of my interests. The novel
I'm writing at the moment is set in a stately home, and I love to visit stately
homes, so that's a huge influence! Everything else about it is just in my head,
waiting to be set down on paper.
Writing sex/romantic scenes can be a
challenge for some authors. Do you find it difficult? If yes, how do you
compensate? If no, where do you draw your inspiration?
Sometimes I find it difficult. I recently
completed my first m/m erotic story, and I found that extremely difficult.
However, I got there in the end and the piece has been accepted, so I must have
done all right! In terms of inspiration, I have no idea. I just forge on until
the characters get it on!
Do you have a method you use to write the
sensual parts? Do you prefer the sex to be open and bold? Or left to the
imagination?
Some of my stories are more graphic than
others, but it depends on the story I'm telling, I guess. I like stories told
in different ways, I wouldn't want all my work to sound the same!
Who is your favourite character, which
you’ve created? Why?
Damien, from my erotic romance novella, Off
the Shelf. He's super sexy, smart, geeky and works in a bookshop. If he was
real, I'd totally date him!
Tell us about your newest release.
My most recent release is an f/f erotic
romance story, which appears in the brand new anthology from Evernight
Publishing – Lover Unexpected: Sappho Edition. It's about two women that have
known each other for years and have been completely platonic... until now.

Just for fun–
What is your favourite colour? Purple
Which do you prefer a great hero or a great
villain? Both!
What is your favourite movie? Why?
I
have several, but one that springs to mind at the moment is The Avengers. Why?!
Because it has tons of hot totty and a brilliant story.
If you could be anyone in the world who
would it be? Why?
I'd be myself, but with a shit load more
money so I could go travelling.
Where do you see your writing career in the
next five to ten years?
I'll have written and published a novel,
and possibly have another novel due to be released. I'll have lots more short
stories and novellas available and hopefully be making some decent money off my
writing, too.

Excerpt:
Natalia smiled as
she caught sight of the familiar redhead sitting in the hotel bar. Thankful for
the thick carpet masking her footsteps, she walked towards her friend from the
back, ensuring she wouldn’t be seen. Then, she slipped her hands over her eyes.
“Guess who?”
An excitable squeak, then, “Oh, I don’t
know. Is it Scarlett Johansson?”
“Hmm, close, but not quite. Guess again.”
“Oh, shut up you silly cow, and come here.”
With that, the redhead stood and turned,
throwing her arms around Natalia and pulling her into a tight hug. “Hey,
gorgeous. I missed you! How are you?”
“I missed you too, Ashleigh. I’m good,
thanks. How about you? You look great.”
Disentangling from their embrace, Ashleigh
looked down at her clingy black top and skinny jeans and shrugged. “Thanks. I’m
okay, I guess. All the better for seeing you. It feels like forever! Come on,
sit down. Let’s get a drink.”
They sat down, and a waiter appeared.
Natalia suspected he’d been waiting at a safe distance until they’d finished
their enthusiastic greeting.
He smiled. “What can I get you ladies?”
Natalia looked at her watch. “You know
what, it’s Saturday and it’s after twelve. I’ll have a glass of white wine
please.”
Ashleigh piped up. “Make it a bottle.
Thanks.”
The waiter nodded, gave a little bow and
walked away.
“So,” Natalia said, settling back into the
plush armchair, “how was your journey? I always find getting into London a
total nightmare, but it’s not so bad once you’re here. The Tube may be sweaty
and crowded, but it’s damn fast!”
Ashleigh nodded. “It was all right,
actually. The train into the city was on time and not very busy, and, like you
say, the Tube is quick and easy. It was pretty stress-free. You?”
“Much the same. I’m just glad we’re finally
here. I can’t believe it’s been a year since we’ve seen each other. It’s so
easy to forget that when we talk almost every day.”
“I know. I’m sorry. It’s just life gets in
the way, doesn’t it? Especially as we live so far apart. And then there was all
that stuff with Kayla…”
Natalia didn’t know how to respond to that,
so she just nodded sagely. Kayla had been Ashleigh’s live-in girlfriend, until
the discovery of some text messages and emails tipped Ashleigh off that she was
being cheated on. Despite all of Kayla’s pleas and declarations of true and
undying love, Ashleigh had no intention of being a doormat, so she’d thrown
Kayla out, and that was the end of it.
Of course, Natalia had known that Kayla was
going to be thrown out before Kayla did. As soon as Ashleigh had found the
incriminating missives, she’d gotten straight on the phone to Natalia for
advice. And as much as Natalia wanted to tell her friend to get the hell rid of
the cheating bitch, she also wanted her to be happy, so instead she’d asked if
Ashleigh if she thought she was being too hasty.
