Welcome to BRB, sweeties. And, welcome Morgan. It's great to have you here! Pull up a chair, grab yourself glass of wine, or in my case, a chai tea latte, and we'll get the party started! LOL Tell
us about yourself, Morgan.
I currently reside in Texas and have been
writing romance for as long as I can remember. As a teenager I wrote dozens of
short stories about love, loss, danger, and of course the seductive bad boy. I’m a graduate from the University of Texas
at Dallas, and was raised in Florida but navigated to Texas as quickly as I
could. Most days, you can find me on my computer diving headlong into my fierce
imagination, where anything can happen. (That’s my favorite place to hide.) When I’m not writing, or thinking about
writing, I enjoy cycling with my husband, staring at my newborn baby girl, and
reading all kinds of romance novels.
Where
and/or how do you find the greatest inspiration?
I discovered that my greatest inspiration
can be found in the eyes of my newborn baby girl. I’ve come to understand what true love is all about and the
awe power it possesses. The
passions I once felt have now been amplified and there is nothing that makes my
heart swell more than having a completed family.
What
made you chose to write western erotic literature in particular? And is there any other
genre you’d like to write? And if so, why?
I had long dreamed of being a published
author of romance novels and I was fortunate enough to call Shayla Black my
friend and mentor. After we had a
brainstorming session at a Mexican restaurant (and was offered some much needed
encouragement), I decided to give erotica romance a shot. I had always loved paranormal romance and
as I made the forty-five minute drive home, Seduced by the Moon was born. I have now published seven erotica
romance novels within the Paranormal and Western Romance genres.
What’s
the hardest part of a novel for you to write: Beginning, middle and/or end?
Why?
The hardest part of a novel for me can
happen at any time. I don’t get
writers block, but I do have moments where life happens and the interruptions
just occur. That’s when I find it
difficult to write seamlessly. I
often need to step away, let life happen, and then resume the project again at
a later time. I find that when I
don’t fight the little speed bumps my work doesn’t suffer.
Has
your own life influenced your novels? And if so, how?
Yes, my own life has influenced my
novels. I find that the characters
that pop into my head often share similarities to people I actually know. I also think life’s experiences make me
a better writer and help me capture the essences found within the story.
Writing
sex/romantic scenes can be a challenge for some authors. Do you find it
difficult? If yes, how do you compensate? If no, where do you draw your
inspiration?
Writing romantic scenes is not a challenge
for me. In fact, they are my
favorite part of the story to write. I tend to draw buckets of inspiration from
a sexy, adorable husband. He
provides me with the perfect emotional and physical combination needed for creating
the hottest love scenes. The best
part is he’s always up for research.
What more does a romance author need?
Do
you have a method you use to write the sensual parts? Do you prefer the sex to
be open and bold? Or left to the imagination?
I don’t really have a method for writing
sensual parts of my novels. I tend
to just sit down and let the words type out on the page. I do enjoy bold and explicit sex scenes
in my stories. I don’t see any
other way to write an erotica romance.
A great storyline with juicy sensual parts is what I enjoy in a good
book.
Who
is your favorite character, which you’ve created? And why?
My favorite character(s) that I’ve created
is Dominic Mercer and Reyes Rodale from the Moonlight Shifters series. These two men were written with my
husband in mind. If I could split
my husband’s personality into two halves, I honestly believe I would end up
with Dominic and Reyes.
Just
for fun–
What
is your favorite color(s)?
I guess I like the color blue the best...I
even dig purple.
Which
do you prefer a great hero or a great villain?
I think you really need to have both…I
couldn’t pick. I love a great hero,
but enjoy writing a wicked villain, too.
What
is your favorite movie? And why?
I don’t have a favorite movie, but I do
have a few movies I could watch repeatedly. The Day after Tomorrow, Mummy, Mummy Returns and Clue.
If
you could be anyone in the world who would it be? And why?
Even If I could be anyone in the world I’d
still want to be me. I’ve never
dreamed of being anyone else. I
only dreamed of being a better version of myself. I think my imagination allows me play around with the idea
of being things I would consider extraordinary. For example: a racecar driver, an astronaut, a cowboy, or
even a werewolf. The stories I
write are the escape I need to help me be someone new for a short period of
time and that’s pretty cool.
Where
do you see your writing career in the next five to ten years?
I see myself becoming a more successful
writer with each passing year. I
hope to be able to share my work with as many people as possible. Writing is my passion and I’m beyond
blessed to be able to do it.
Discovering
Temptation, The Texas Stallions series, book 1
Blurb:
Abigail Carter arrives in Temptation,
Texas, wondering what her recently deceased father was thinking when he left
her his prized cattle ranch. Now, as the sole heir of Paradise Ranch, Abby must
figure out how to manage and run the day-to-day operations.
Luckily, experienced cattle rancher Tyler
Boyd steps up to help her with the assistance of his brothers, but Abby’s
dreams quickly come crashing down around her as a serial killer marks her for
death, stalking her at every turn.
The sexy cowboy puts aside his own safety
for the alluring Abby and tries to keep her safe from the evil hunting her, but
when the killer places him at the top of his hit list, everything they've come
to love could end in murder.
Can the love of a strong cowboy help her
discover her hidden passions and ultimately save her life?
Excerpt:
“Well, I see you found the spring,” he
said, not bothering to hide his lust-filled need. His gaze dipped low on her
chest. “You know you’re not supposed to be alone, Abby. However, you’re in luck
as I plan to hang out with you for as long as you’re here.” A wide smile tugged
at his sexy lips. “Naked or not.”
Her heart fluttered as he stood. “I
wouldn’t mind it if you stayed,” she whispered and hadn’t intended for her
words to be heard aloud. She gasped as he looked back at her, and his eyes
darkened with longing. She recognized it because she felt it, too. They’d
played the flirting game since they’d met, and it was becoming increasingly
harder to fight. Her heart raced, and her breathing became shallower. “I didn’t
mean to say that out loud.”
He held her gaze for a long moment. “So,
what does that mean, exactly?” He folded his well-defined arms over his chest.
A nervous flutter sank to the pit of her
stomach. What she wouldn’t give to have the courage to tell him to strip off
his clothes and jump into the water and ravage her body until they both came in
a blaze of glory. The image that fired in her mind had her pussy throbbing with
desire.
Staring down at the dark, cool water
surrounding her, she said, “Nothing.” Lie. Lie. Lie. Damn, she was a coward,
and she hated that intimacy with a man that wasn’t a dark, manipulating brute
was near impossible for her to accept.
Thanks, Mom. Your nurturing support did
wonders for my self-esteem.
“Nothing,” he said, repeating her words as
he began unbuttoning his shirt. “Then you won’t mind if I jump in and cool off.
I’d go to another spring, but it’s clear on the other side of the property and
I’m afraid I could melt before I got there.”
Her eyes sprung open wide. Oh God, he was
actually taking off his clothes, and she couldn’t tear her eyes away. “Tyler,
I’m not sure that’s such a good idea.” Her eyes immediately locked in on her
discarded clothing, and so did his. She knew that her expression screamed, “I’m
naked!” but he didn’t seem to mind.
“Oh,” he said with a sly grin, and
unbuckled his pants, sliding the jeans down long, muscular legs. “Don’t be shy,
Abby. I guess to even things out, I should be naked, too. I don’t want you to
feel awkward.” Down went his boxers.
