BL’s
Next Book in the SNOTM Series Candyman
BLMorticia
Greetings
readers! This is BL again with a writing post. I promise I’ll get another sexy
topic together for you but for now, let’s chat about my next book in the
Naughty Nights Press Something New Series, Candyman. It’s my 2nd
book in this collection and the 4th overall; an interracial novella
about a young man who’s just lost his father and is left his Diamond Candies
business to run. However, he has hardly no experience and really not a lot of
interest in taking over but when he steps in and sees a hot worker who catches
his eye, he might be swayed to take the lead as his father wanted.
You’re
getting first taste of this story so I hope you enjoy it. Look for Candyman to
come out June 2012.
Elayne Roux
is the new owner of the world famous Diamond Candies chocolate factory on the
South Side of Chicago. His father, Demi Roux just lost his battle with cancer
and has left it in his care despite Demi’s brother’s advice to leave it to him.
Elayne has no interest in the company but to fulfill his father’s last wish, he
takes on the day to day of it anyway.
He’s a
spoiled brat, a young man that’s lived off his father’s money, and never worked
a day in his life and now Elayne’s responsibility is this huge company that he
could care less about till he meets one of the more attractive employees, Ty
Washington.
Ty is a born
and raised Southsider who’s working there to put him through college. Recently,
his father threw him out because he confessed he might be gay. This hardens him
a bit and he makes the choice not to pursue any gay relationships in hopes
he’ll eventually grow out of it and begin to date women. However, when he and
Elayne talk, his heart soars and as badly as he tries to fight it, the two connect
and eventually they decide to give their relationship a try.

Elayne
glared at Jakob and did as he was told. So he wouldn’t be that close to Jakob,
he slid his chair to the right, prompting Lucas to sigh and roll his eyes.
“You’re
so petty and despicable, Elayne. I’m still your flesh and blood, despite how we
feel for one another.”
Calmly,
he crossed his legs and arms over his lap as if he were sitting in class like a
good student. “I wish we weren’t!” He darted his eyes back in Lucas’ direction,
ready to hear the news. “Where is everyone else?”
Lucas
didn’t look up. “Oh I dismissed them. No one is involved in this last will and
testament but you and Jakob. Your father only left basic possessions to some
lucky people and it was mostly things he knew you wouldn’t and or couldn’t
use.”
Good. Serves the fuckers right!
Upon
hearing that, his lips curled upwards into a soft smile. These people that
showed up to Demi’s funeral thinking they’d be given riches on a platter left
empty handed or only received small tokens of gratitude for empty friendships.
Such was the reason Demi hung out with Elayne most of the time. He knew a lot
of the people his own age only liked him because he was rich and famous. Damn them! “So in other words, you gave
away nothing but cars, maybe some left over jewelry or…”
“Basically,
yes. The best automobiles he saved for you, Elayne to giveaway or keep at your
leisure. Shall we get started?” Finally he looked up and met Elayne’s gaze.
The
heir only nodded and moistened his lips, peering at the well defined, clean
shaven, caramel skinned lawyer with black rimmed glasses. Damn Lucas was such a
hot man but he remained a faithful servant and lover of Demi’s till the end.
Elayne knew this and never tried to wedge in between them. Most likely, Lucas
got his cut of the Roux fortune as soon as the machine signaled Demi’s last
breath, only to keep this secret from the ogre named Jakob. Lucas and Demi knew
the old bastard might use this against them and surely Lucas planned for that
in advance.
“Yes
please, let’s. I want to know what my dear, sweet brother Demi left me!” Again,
Uncle Roux rubbed his palms together as if he were warming them by a fire.
Lucas
shook his head and glanced back at the documents. “You get no cash nor any part
of the company or estate, Jakob. You shouldn’t be surprised that due to the
foul relationship you had with your brother, nothing would be left for you!”
Visibly
shaken, the old man gasped and huffed. His face turned beet red.
Elayne
stood up immediately and laughed. It was the first time he’d done so in almost
a week. “Ha! I told ya’! You sick fuck!” He teased and pointed prompting a
small chuckle from Lucas. This was a
great day indeed. His father hadn’t left Jakob anything, causing the bastard to
pitch a bitch.
“This
is an outrage. Don’t tell me he’s left everything
in Elayne’s care! I’m his older sibling for Pete’s sake!”
“And
mine,” Lucas added. “Hold on though, there’s still a clause in here you both
must know about. Demi stated that the company must break even for the last
quarter or above, Elayne. Despite your inexperience, you must do whatever you
can to make sure the company keeps running smoothly as though Demi never left.”
Elayne
sat down and titled his head.
“That shouldn’t be so hard, right Lucas? I mean, Diamond Candies is a
household name and I have a spectacular team of experts don’t I?”
“True,
you do. This includes your uncle who is on the board of trustees and shall
remain in that position.”
“Thank
Christ for that at least,” he grumbled. “Do I get to keep my company car and
parking space or did good ol Demi shaft me out of that as well?” Jakob smirked
and folded his arms over his upper torso.
Elayne
could feel the snark in his voice and the disdain his uncle had for his father.
“Can my first order of business be to fire him?”
“No,
unfortunately not. The clause states you must keep the company profits up with
the help of acting CEO, Maxwell Bridges. He’ll do most of the footwork, Elayne
but you’ve got to come up with strategies to keep the business making money.
Your dad knew you’d be very inexperienced and might not want to take on the
business. He hopes when you take part in the marketing and advertisement part,
you’ll want to know more under Max’s tutelage.”
