Who is, Ashley Brooke? Tell us about yourself.
I’ve been writing fiction for years, but hadn’t published any work until last year.  I am an English major with a minor in journalism.  Writing is my passion and I have decided to make it my career.

When did you know you wanted to become a writer?
I realized I wanted to be a writer after watching the first movie of the Twilight sequel.  The story portrayed a strong romance that can be obtained in real life.  I wanted to be able to express my own opinions and feelings about the four letter word, but with a different approach.

Who and/or what prompted you to write your first novel?
I did.  It started out as something I would just do for fun, but then it crossed my mind to submit the story for publication.  I figured, why not?  The worst they can say is no.

Where and/or how do you find the greatest inspiration?
My encounters with people.  My emotions are either stirred by hearing someone else’s story or my feelings are affected by something that happened to me personally.  It is not necessarily the stories I write, but the emotion my characters feel in the story that come from my heart.

What made you chose to write erotic literature in particular? And is there any other genre you’d like to write? And if so, why?
I chose erotic literature because it allows me to take my writing to new levels.  I can push boundaries and pretty much write whatever I want without having to worry about being offensive.  I don’t like limitations.  Erotic literature is perfect for me. I also enjoy writing young adult fiction.  Of my friends, I’ve always been the one they turn to for advice and help.  I still remember what is was like being a teenager and I learned a lot as I journeyed through my adolescent years.  If nothing else, I want young girls to know that they are not alone, they are not the first to encounter the problems they are facing, and that they won’t be the last.  Like erotic romance, young adult was right up my alley.
Which appears first when contemplating a new project: A character, the plot and/or the title?
The plot most definitely.

What’s the hardest part of a novel for you to write: Beginning, middle and/or end? Why?
The beginning. I have so many thoughts and ideas about climaxes, but I have the toughest time flowing into those specific parts of the story.

Has your own life influenced your novels? And if so, how?
Some of my life experiences have influenced my stories.  I am a very sensitive person, so when my feelings are hurt, I can be a little emotional.  My happiness, grief, anger, and frustration are the determinants of the story’s beginning, middle, and end.

Writing sex/romantic scenes can be a challenge for some authors. Do you find it difficult? If yes, how do you compensate? If no, where do you draw your inspiration?
Writing sex scenes is never challenging for me.  It’s just as fun as writing the story itself.  My inspiration comes from a number of things: movies, conversations with girl friends, lessons I learned when I  took psychology, you name it.  Think of it this way, other than being “horny”, what inspires you to have sex?  There’s attraction, love, anger, desire, etc.  It’s the same thing for me, the only difference is, I’m putting it on paper.

Do you have a method you use to write the sensual parts? Do you prefer the sex to be open and bold? Or left to the imagination?
I prefer the sex to be open and bold.  I want my readers to know what is going on between the characters from beginning to end.

Are your characters based on people you know? Or are they completely fictitious?
My characters are both fictitious and based on people I know.
Who is your favorite character, which you’ve created? And why?
Carrington and Alicia are my favorite.  I favor them because they were the first characters I created, and of all of my characters, they are the most like me.

Can you tell us about your latest release? Give a synopsis.
My latest release is called No Boundaries.  It releases July 27, 2011.  Here’s the blurb:
Their lovemaking is like salve on an open wound, and the sweet sounds of their cries reflect the passion generated by the flames burning within.
Jacob and Alana were young when they fell hopelessly in love with one another. They were each bound to different worlds and held captive as slaves to goals that were not their own. But they refused to let anything stand in the way, and so they married and began their lives together.
The years bring heartache, though, and Jacob and Alana's relationship soon feels the strain. Tragedy and betrayal are slowly killing the bond between them, and together they must fight to save what has never truly left them—a love that is as strong as death and a passion that is unyielding as the grave.

What’s your newest WIP? And when we can expect a publication date?
I have three books that are WIP.  One is the third book in the Beautiful Liars series, the other is a paranormal erotic work.  Both books should be out around December. My latest work in progress is a young adult novel. That book probably won’t be out until 2012.

How many novels do you have, that are currently published?
Please list all the publishers, so the readers can locate you.  I have three novels that are currently published by Siren Publishing.

Where do you see your writing career in the next five to ten years?
My goal is to publish 5-7 books a year. I want to grow and become stringer as a writer as I journey through the years.  With new life experiences and opportunities, I believe my writing career will be at a much higher level than it is right now in five to ten years. I’m looking forward to it.
